spinoff

From lab to industry ...

T
he idea of creating a university spin-off company originates after obtaining a patent (in spanish) on a new method to design digital circuits based on an evolutionary computation algorithm.

  • In 2004, the idea and business model was awarded in the 'II Competition for spin-off research madri+d (see the university newspaper Tribuna Complutense , in spanish).

A year later, in 2005, I participated in a course at 'Virtual Business Incubator' Madrid Science Park,  'XI Training Program for Entrepreneurs', conducting the business plan.

  • In 2007 the project was again awarded in the 'II Contest of Ideas and New Technology Based Companies (EBTs) UCM' after redefining the initial business idea (see Tribuna Complutense, in spanish).

  • In 2013 I was awarded, participating in the 'II Entrepreneurship Lab', Scientific Park of Madrid, under the project entitled INTELLIGENT AFFECTIVE MACHINES. The spin off project aimed to develop and market a software applied to the analysis of the sound structures of laughter, specifically applying it to the detection of emotional content, and from there, to the diagnosis of depression. The project was conducted in collaboration with 'Grupo de Investigación de Bioinformación y Biología de Sistemas', Instituto Aragonés de Ciencias de la Salud (IACS) in Zaragoza (Spain).

A summary of my experience as an entrepreneur has been included in the following publication.
